Jewish burial customs in the 1st Century and Shroud of Turin evidence

The intent of the following article is to dig a little bit deeper into Jewish burial customs of the 1st Century.

I realized that understanding these customs in a proper manner will also clarify our understanding of the reports of the Gospels. In addition, it will shed more light on the way Yeshua was buried.

The burial: a sacred duty in Jewish customs

The Old Testament abounds in examples proving that it was a sacred duty for Jewish people to bury their dead. We also know that, due to the Middle Eastern climate, people had to be taken to rest normally on the very day of their death, because corpses decomposed very rapidly.

It was also viewed as shameful for a family to leave one of their deceased members for days without burying him.

“Then the men of Y’huda came, and they anointed David king over the house of Y’hudah. They informed David that the men of Yavesg-Gil’ad were the ones who had buried Sha’ul. So David sent messengers to the men of Yevesh-Gil’ad with this message: “May you be blessed by Adonai because you showed this kindness to your Lord Sha’ul and buried him. Now may Adonai show kindness and truth to you; and I too will show you favor because you have done this.”

2 Samuel 2-4

How people were laid to rest

The Gospels teach us HOW people were laid to rest.

For instance John 11:44 and John 19:40 provide very clear details about the way people were dressed for a burial.

“The man who had died came out, and feet bound in his graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Yeshua told them: ” Unwrap him and let him go.” John 11:44

“They took the body of Yeshua and bound it in linen cloths with the spices as the burial customs of the Jews.” John 19:40

What we must consider about crucifixion

  • crucifixion is a curse, it is defined as such in the Torah…a man hanged on a tree is cursed.

The Torah gives precise indications about handling a crucified person’s burial:

” And if a man has committed a crime punishable by death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall bury him the same day, for a hanged man is cursed by God.” Deuteronomy 21:22-23

In short, what do the verses of Deuteronomy mean regarding Yeshua’s crucifixion? They CLEARLY mean that Yeshua took the curse by God our Father for OUR sins.

  • crucified people would be mocked by Romans, who would often write some kind of sarcastic epitaph on their cross.
  • Pilate considered Yeshua to be innocent, otherwise he would have denied Joseph of Arimathea his demand. Without allies within the Sanhedrin, Yeshua’s dead body could have ended up in the common grave.

The story of 21 year old Yehohanan, who lived in the 1st Century will teach you a lot about crucifixion and crucifixion methods used by the Romans.

What the Shroud teaches us about Yeshua’s burial

Yeshua’s burial cloths are composed of 2 parts

                                           part 2: Shroud of Turin

part 1: Sudarium of Oviedo ( napkin)

Scientific research has proven that the blood found on the Shroud of Turin and the Sudarium of Oviedo belong to the same person, who wore a Crown of thorns ( or rather a helmet of thorns), suffered scourging and crucifixion as described in detail in the Gospels. The Face of the Shroud also confirms what we know from the Gospels: Yeshua was blindfolded and punched in his eyes.

“After blindfolding Him, they kept asking, “Prophesy! Who hit you?” Luke 22:64

Parts of Yeshua’s beard are missing, which is also fulfills Isaiah’s prophecy:

“I gave my back to those who strike me, and my cheeks to those who pluck out the beard: I did not cover my face from humiliation and spitting.” Isaiah 50:6

The Shroud of Turin gives testimony to the world that our Messiah Yeshua is our Passover lamb, whose body has been made a bread of affliction ( a matza) for our Salvation.

Only one person corresponds to this description: Yeshua our Messiah.

Funnily skeptics always base their attacks of the Shroud on the fact that it is one linen piece, willingly ignoring the existence of the Sudarium of Oviedo. The Shroud of Turin does NOT contradict the stories of the Gospels, it confirms the written testimony of the disciples in an astounding way.

The body of Yeshua: washed or unwashed?

Before even arguing if the Man of the Shroud was washed or unwashed we need to understand what Jewish burial customs in the 1st Century imply:

  1. If the person died a regular death, there is an obligation to wash and anoint the body with spices and perfumes before the person gets laid to rest.
  2. In the case of violent death ( which is the case for the Man of the Shroud), body will be laid to rest AS IS.

Again, detractors of the Shroud often speak by ignorance.

However, the fact that the Man of the Shroud’s body had been unwashed made me stumble upon an apparent issue: didn’t the Gospels of Mark, Luke and John mention the use of spices and perfumes?

What was that supposed to mean? I broke my head over this issue and asked my friend David Hines, the Shroud researcher, to come to rescue.

David shared his opinion ( that is based on forensic facts that have been proven by several pathologists and Shroud experts).

David came to the conclusion that the body of the Man of the Shroud was washed to some degree. Is this contradictory? Not at all.

You will judge by yourself as I am sharing his words with you all. I do trust David, not only because of his expertise, but especially because he deeply loves our Lord. David spends much time with our Lord daily and also received some insights from Him.

Quoting David:

“First I do not believe Nicodemus purchased about a 100lb weight of myrrh and aloes to be used on a dead person.

Meaning he DID NOT buy myrrh and aloes  to be used in a burial.  That was not his plan.

But to use on a living Jesus.  I believe he purchased the myrrh and aloes to treat scourge wounds thinking Jesus would be scourged and released as would be routine procedure.

A prisoner is NOT scourged and crucified.  One or the other, not both.  If what happened to the Man in the Shroud was routine procedure the Romans would have been nailing dead corpses to the crosses.

Jesus/Yeshua is scourged and crucified.  That does not make sense.

I believe Nicodemus knew how brutal the scourging was and perhaps even witnessed it and purchased the myrrh and aloes to treat scourge wounds.   Myrrh resin was used in war to cover battle wounds.   It is a antiseptic.

It is not typically used in a Jewish burial that I know of.    Certainly not in that excess.

Myrrh and aloes in a burial?  That does not make sense.  What makes sense it that it was purchased to treat scourge wounds.  That is exactly what one would purchase to treat scourge wounds.   Aloes for the skin and myrrh would be the perfect purchase to property heal from the brutal scourging.

I believe Nicodemus having purchased the myrrh and aloes on his behalf brought them to the burial not thinking they would ever be used in a burial but ended up being used in the burial.  Since he bought them for Jesus may as well give them to him type thinking.

Like Dr. Frederick Zugibe I believe the body was washed to some degree, meaning myrrh and aloes just poured over the body and nothing more.  As a act of purification.   Myrrh resin was used in purification rites.

I honesty believe that, I can almost picture it,  myrrh and aloes being poured over the body.

In doing this it did not wash all the blood off, but dirt and perhaps sweat.    So I believe to some degree, a minor degree the body was washed,   Myrrh and aloes poured over the body but not scrubbed down or blood removed.

Myrrh resin is like tree sap,   it would preserve the blood on the linen.     And there is a thin coat of carbohydrates over the Shroud linen,   the chemcial properties of that carb layer match the chemical properties of myrrh and aleos. .I wrote a paper on it that I will send.

Dr. Baima Bollone found myrrh and aloes in the blood by antibody antigen testing.  He is a very respected forensic pathologist and had blood samples from the Shroud and performed numerous tests over many years and wrote a book about it.   He also examined the blood from the Sudarium.

As for the women I believe they came with perfumes.  Nothing to wash the body.   Fragrance only.

Myrrh by itself is not really a good fragrance. it is base for perfumes,.  when mixed with frankincense makes for a perfume.

Women bought perfume because none was used at the burial.

I spent a lot of time with the Lord on this.  I know I am right.

How does one define the word “washed”  that is a very vague term.   For the most part I believe the blood stayed with the body,  with perhaps some loss of the blood when myrrh and aloes were poured over the body.  Bear in mind aloes are 90% water.”

The following study proves that RULE Nr2 ( see above) was applied for the Man of the Shroud.

Not only is the second point still applied in contemporary Jewish burial customs, it also fully proves without a doubt that the Man of the Shroud is a Jewish person.

The sign of Jonas- why Yeshua probably wasn’t buried on a Friday: meaning of ” Erev Shabbat”

“But He answered them: ” An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to except the sign of the prophet Jonah” Matthew 12:39

Why is it important to know if Yeshua fulfilled the prophecy of the Sign of Jonas?

It is a detail of the HIGHEST IMPORTANCE because this is the sign Yeshua promised to His generation, so we would recognize that He is the Messiah.

If Yeshua actually died on a Friday and was resurrected on a Sunday morning, we have bad maths here, that’s two nights and a half inside of the tomb, not three days and three nights, in the same way the prophet Jonas remained in the fish’s belly.

A lot of people think that the term ” erev Shabbat”, the eve of Shabbat only refers to Friday evening. Rather the contrary is true. Not only is “Shabbat” used to describe the resting day, it is ALSO used to describe any feast for Adonai such as Pesakh or Sukkot.

Nowhere in the Gospels, it is specified that Yeshua actually died on a Friday. Yeshua died before Shabbat, but this Shabbat could have been any day of the week.

The following study will help you understand the right timing in Yeshua’s death and resurrection.

May the Spirit of Adonai help you understand the importance of Yeshua’s words and the fulfillement of His prophecies.

May you understand that, if after 2000 years, the piece of linen that we call “Shroud of Turin” is still there, its purpose is not for you to worship it, but it truly testifies of the Resurrection of our Lord.

The details of our Lord’s suffering are encrypted for you to remember the HIGH PRICE Yeshua paid for your sins.

May you come to repentance and be saved in His powerful Name. Amen.

Yeshua walks on water in the perspective of Sefer Bereshit (Book of Genesis)

Mark 6:48

He saw them wearing themselves out by rowing, because the wind was against them.

Around the fourth watch, He came to them. They saw Him walking on the surface of the water, and intended to pass by them.

Now the earth was astonishingly empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water. (Genesis 1:2)

Please note: the Hebrew language renders ” the surface of the water” by “the faces of the waters”…this verse ( Mark 6:48) uses yam ( sea) instead of mayim (water) unlike Genesis 1:2.

I know about the episode of Yeshua walking on water since my childhood. I’ve read it many times.

The complexity of this episode never crossed my mind until yesterday, when I decided to study the verse of Mark 6:48 in Hebrew.

The Hebrew translation will reveal elements that you wouldn’t be able to guess in any other translated version. As I was reflecting on the verse, intrigued by the expression “penei hayam” ( the faces of the sea (of Galilee)), Yeshua immediately put this verse in correlation with Genesis 1:2.

In the verse of Genesis 1:2, you will find: “veruakh Elohim merakhefet al penei hamayim”, “… and the Spirit of Elohim was hovering over the faces of the waters. While the verse of Mark 6:48 uses ” penei hayam”, the faces of the sea ( Sea of Galilee), the action of Yeshua walking on the sea is similarly a result of the action of the Holy Spirit. Yeshua’s body defies the laws of gravitation in this dramatic moment. It is lifted up through the Holy Spirit. The only noticeable difference between both expressions ” penei hamayim” ( the faces of the waters) and ” penei hayam” ( the faces of the sea) seems to be the following one: in the Beginning, the Spirit is hovering over a surface that implies infinite space. The word mayim, the waters are extended much more than “penei hayam” and points to an infinite, extendable surface. Mayim decomposes into yam, so that the first word becomes the second’s container.

מים mayim= water

ים   yam    = sea

רוּח ruakh = spirit, Spirit of God, wind

Interestingly, Yeshua lifted the veil regarding the expression ” penei hamayim” this morning by showing me that the faces of the waters pointed at diverse degrees of the appearance of the waters: superficial or deep, never equal, always in movement.

The miracle of Yeshua walking on the waters occurs just after the multiplication of bread and fish. The disciples confuse the presence of the Ruakh ha Kodesh ( the Holy Spirit) with a common spirit, a ghost ( ruakh). This is why they are caught in terror when Yeshua is approaching them. Also note that the preceding verse states that the wind-which also corresponds to the Hebrew word ruakh- was against them.

The wind being contrary to the disciples, their eyes were blinded to see. It is also said that they did not comprehend the multiplication of fish and bread because of their heardened heart.

Walking on water is far from being common. This is a sign from somebody who is greater than Moshe and who masters the elements.

In these days, a lot of people are trying to minimize Yeshua’s signs and miracles. Some people are coming up with arrogant boasting, stating that Yeshua was just performing the trick of an illusionist. Some others are saying that ” anybody can walk on water”.

Remember that the Egyptians treated Moshe in the same way and mocked the signs of Hashem. But Moshe’s serpent swallowed the all magicians’ serpents in the end.

Hashem is King and He ‘ll always have the last word. Trust His power. Great is our Lord and He is greatly to be praised. Amen.

Subtle shades of meaning ( from “Heart of a Savior”)

yeshua before pilate

“ My daughter, I am urging people to get serious now about having a relationship with me, for I am telling you that so many will not recognize me when our Father will send me back.

Tell people to stop thinking of me as an abstraction. I am a real person.

Tell them to turn to me with all their hearts instead of relying on dead Scriptures.

I can see the masses fall for their false messiah in the same way they did on the very day I was sentenced to death.

Only true disciples would understand the fine distinction between Yeshua bar Abba (the true Maschiach) and Yeshua bar Abba (better known as “Barrabas”)…child, I am telling you that many individuals will be fooled by a diluted version of me in the last days. A veil of blindness will cover many eyes.

During the days that precede my return, the enemy will send somebody capable of doing miracles, among other great deeds and claiming to be God. The ones who only know me theoretically will be very vulnerable. My sheep, the ones who know my voice cannot be deceived for they actually know who I am.

As for the other ones, I am urging you, call upon my Name and get to know your Savior, because if you fall into the man of sin’s claws, it will be too late.”

“Lord, my love, I can sense the emergency of your words as a spirit of evil is gaining more and more souls. Please save the ones that can still be saved. Have mercy, dear Lord for the yet unsaved souls.”

“Many individuals wrongly think that reading Scriptures regularly automatically confers Salvation. I’ll reiterate it: Scriptures do not save nor does regular attendance to an assembly. Although some so called “ spiritual leaders” will keep them captive by fear, these people ( with a few exceptions) are very far from me. They have no idea about who I am. They have prejudiced opinions about who I should be as well. These people are in great danger, because they proclaim that they are saved because of the Scriptures. However, I am not their personal Savior. So how can they even dare to say that they accessed Salvation? If I came in front of these individuals, asking them: “Who saved you?”, they would reply: “ I am saved because of the Bible…”

If I replied to them: “Your Bible doesn’t have any power to save you, only Yeshua can bring you Salvation”, some of them would call me a “demon”.

The Holy Spirit is absent from their souls. I would like to urge them all to get to know me for real, as a person. Once the man of sin will appear with his fake prodigies, it will be far too late.

People have to remember that Scriptural knowledge is nothing. Proficiency creates a vacuum when people accumulate it and don’t apply it with their hearts.

I desire humble and thirsty souls, not Scripture parrots.”

5820639617_8bac2b8b96

As I kept speaking with my Lord, I was transported into a tiny street of Jerusalem. The sun was shining and my feet were making noise while hitting little white stones that were on my way.

I stopped and stood before a pink door. I could see red flowers at the right side of the door. The pink door was beautifully decorated with wrought iron.

My ear then caught the Hebrew word Shaar, which means“door” or “gate”.

Why our Lord had taken me here I was really clueless.

I spoke again to Yeshua in the morning:

“Lord what is the meaning of that pink door I was standing before in Jerusalem?”

Yeshua then replied to me:

“Shin is the letter of the Shema. You need an ear to hear. Ayin is the letter for the eye. You need an eye to see. Finally, Resh is the letter of “rosh”. It is the head, the beginning.

Child, you have been praying for me to open you new horizons. Here I am bringing you in front of a door. A new door will open for you.”

“Thank you my beloved. Why is the door pink?”

“My daughter, pink is not one of your favorite colors, is it?”

“No, you are right, Yeshua. Pink is definitely not among my favorite colors.”

“The pink color is showing you that the door I am opening will not be opened in a casual way. It will surprise you in many ways.”

“Thank you my Yeshua. May my ears be willing to listen and my eyes wide open to see what you prepared for this new beginning.

You are the door, my Yeshua, and I will enter thanks to you. I praise you, my sweet Lord.”

The true Messiah of Israel

I know that the following article is going to raise controversy on both, the Jewish and the Gentile side. I hesitated a long time before writing it. Nevertheless, all in all, I think that it is worth publishing it, for the truth has to be told, regardless of various opinions on the subject.

Opinions are just opinions, and they don’t really matter in front of the truth.

Two thousand years ago Hashem fulfilled the promise of sending a Messiah to Israel. Yeshua accomplished many signs and miracles and brought, through His presence, the kingdom of Heaven to earth. But Yeshua’s mission was ultimately to die on the Cross, so all mankind could access Salvation.

When He walked the earth as Yeshua ben Yosef, it was really hard to recognize Him as the Messiah, unless through a revelation from the Holy Spirit, as given to Peter.

For the Gentiles to access Salvation, Yeshua had to be rejected by the Jewish religious establishment. Yet, it is often interpreted as His rejection by all the people of Israel, which is a truly misrepresented fact. Not only were all of Yeshua’s first disciples Jewish, but a lot of people in Israel revered Him and loved Him. Some of them, like Nicodemus, followed Him secretely out of fear from the religious establishment. Some contemporary rabbis in Israel do act in the same way.

When Yeshua our Messiah was crucified, young women in Jerusalem are reported to have been crying, a fact that has been occulted in Christianity although it is clearly reported in the Gospels.

Both communities separated from the real Yeshua ?

Today’s drama is that many orthodox Jews are cut from the Messiah of Israel. Many Gentiles are cut from the true Messiah of Israel too, because the one they think they are following is a distorted Messiah with pagan adjunctions.

Many people wonder why orthodox Jews don’t turn to Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel.

I realized that many orthodox Jews do not reject Yeshua, they do reject «Jesus».

«What? Isn’t this a reference to the same person? What do you mean?», I will probably be asked by many people. Well, let me develop my point. Yes, many orthodox Jews do reject the name Jesus, because it refers to Christianity. Because in the «Jesus» that is depicted by Christianity they don’t even recognize a Jew. Therefore many Jews think that Yeshua is a Gentile, because they didn’t get a chance to read the New Testament.

I think that emperor Constantine is one of the most wicked persons in history, because he replaced a cult based on IHVH with pagan customs. Christianity never even questioned this and even added to this. A lot of customs that are rebuked in the Bible, such as decorating a Christmas tree or taking Sun-day as a resting and cult day, are just commonly accepted as part of Christianity. These are just a few examples, there are so many more…

The « Gentile Messiah » is a common lie people accept

Yes, the One you are calling « Jesus » is Jewish. His real Name is Yeshua. His real Name actually points to Salvation, which is our Messiah’s very purpose. Some people slated me just for stating this truth. I’ll reiterate it once again, because it needs to be said : the name Jesus is totally made up. It has no meaning. It is the Greek transliteration of Yeshua. It didn’t exist until the 6th Century. In the 1st Century, everybody who knew Him called Him Yeshua. So sorry if I offended some of you for calling our Lord by His true Name.

Then I’ll repeat another schocker to many Gentiles : Yeshua is Jewish and Torah observant. All the points He makes are linked with the Torah. One can only have a proper understanding of His points by putting them into a Hebrew context.

Since Yeshua approached me, our Lord revealed Himself to me as the Jewish Messiah. He asked me to call Him Yeshua, not «Jesus». He clearly showed me that He is a teacher of Torah and that He has nothing but love for Israel.

The true Messiah of Israel is not a character of Greek mythology. He is real. He opposes to paganism practices such as cult of saints, cult of Virgin Mary, and any kind of idolatry. He has a rabbinic approach of Scriptures.

He is not a priest or a pastor in the modern sense of the term. A friend gently reminded me that Yeshua bears the title of High Priest after the order of Melkizedek and that He can also be considered as the Good Shepherd and Pastor of Israel.

My reference to the word “priest” and “pastor’ referred to modern religious congregations’ leaders in the Christian world.

The true Messiah of Israel is present throughout the whole Tanakh (Ancient Testament).

If you do not believe that Yeshua is present in the Tanakh, then check out this impressive list of prophecies fulfilled by our Messiah.

In both communities, either Jewish or Christians, I’ve seen people who’d prefer to deny the truth than giving up traditions of men and added customs. I’ve seen so many people who prefer the comfort of a religious community than living in truth and taking the path of our Messiah Yeshua.

Having met Yeshua personally, today I cannot and will not adhere Christianity, because of the many added pagan customs it contains. Although I feel much closer to Messanic Judaism, I am not keen on joining any movement at all.

I am not seeking to advertise any church, congregation or synagogue.

I want to advertise Yeshua the true Messiah of Israel. He is the only One I have given my heart.

I am not Jewish. I am not Christian. I am a follower of Yeshua, the true Messiah of Israel.

Come to Him, because there is no Salvation out of Him.

True understanding comes from the Holy Spirit

«Not by power, nor by might, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. » (Zachariah 4:6)

«Then Yeshua said to them, «How foolish you are, how slow you are to believe everything the prophets said! Was it not necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and then to enter his glory? And Yeshua explained to them what was said about himself in all the Scriptures, beginning with the books of Moses and the writings of all the prophets.» (Luke 24:25-27)

« My sweet Lord, I noticed that you introduced me into a new habit of studying your Word. »

« Yes, my child, I want you to bathe deeply into the themes you are writing about. Knowledge isn’t everything. One must receive a clear sight thanks to the Holy Spirit.

Most people write and deliver insights about biblical texts from their intellect. This is why many articles you are reading appear so lifeless. How could a dry tree bear fruit ? Using your brain is, of course, necessary, but real clarity always originates from the Holy Spirit.

This is the reason why so many scholars are rigid and unkind : they don’t understand that they must humble themselves before me prior any biblical study. I give spiritual knowledge. Because they are « Middle-East experts », or because they did some fine research, some people think they know everything. As long as one boasts with arrogance (regardless of their denomination), he is just fooling himself.

You are talking about me, Yeshua, the Other, the One you don’t know at all- and you don’t even bother to ask me about the significance of my own words!

You do not believe that I am alive; otherwise you ‘d seek me and ask me before you come up with meaningless theories about me!

The proud will be humiliated and the humble will be elevated. This is a spiritual law. How can these people pretend to be mine when they are reluctant to work with the Holy Spirit ?

Let me tell you, proud scholars: you do not know me and my Spirit does not reside inside of you. Your hearts are corrupt and so are your writings. Ironically, you are pointing at 1st Century Pharisees, and you are 100 times worse than the ones you are slating.

I will remunerate each and everyone after their hearts. Do not be scared of humans, fear me. I have the power to scan your inside ; nothing escapes me. I created you, why don’t you fear me?»

«Oh Lord, I confess my ignorance before you. For stories that I have heard hundred times, new meanings arise with the help of your Holy Spirit. Teach me and I will listen.»

«Child, as you know, the Holy Spirit is giving life to the Scriptures.

Think of the disciples of Emmaüs-reflect on how their hearts were warming up when I explained them Scriptures.

You know my daughter, too many people are speaking of me. Some of them are using my Name to hate and to destroy. A lot of people are hiding their own iniquities by joining an assembly. They wrongly think that their regular attendance will protect them from my anger.

They appear as rightful in front of their leaders, but their hearts are very corrupt and greedy. They are following the customs of the world.

The time is approaching when everybody will be rewarded after the content of their hearts. My Day will break out very surprisingly. Be ready and exhort others to be ready. »

« Lord, please have mercy. Please bring Salvation to the ones who still can be saved. »

« There are still souls that will access Salvation despite the father of perdition’s efforts to corrupt most people.

Woe unto all these mighty people who corrupt the souls of little children, calling good « evil » and evil « good. »

None of them will be left unpunished. If people knew how terrible it is to stand before me when I come for judgment, they’d accept my scarifice and let me into their hearts.

Child, since I entered your heart, did you notice how I changed you ?

I am mending your heart, I am restoring your spirit with my light. I am also changing your perspective. I invested you with a great mission. People will be attracted to your message. Trust my Spirit that is leading you.

Never boast about this, my daughter. I confer strength and I am making people weak.

Beware, sect leaders and false teachers : who is going to protect you from my anger ? All your pride will fall. When the curtain closes and your comedy is over, you will understand how vain you were. But it will be too late for you worshippers of the devil. All of your harsh, merciless spirits, you’ll get what you deserve. I can see corrupt hearts who do not wish to give up their ways. There is no repentance. I keep warning the world that has no idea about the events to come. Pharaoh didn’t want to listen either, back in the days, and you know what happened to him. »

The true disciple knows (from Heart of a Savior)

« Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father,a daughter against her mother,a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law-a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.

Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. »

Matthew 10:34-38

Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets. (Luke 6:22-23)

« My dear child, do not expect to be understood. You’ll often be misquoted. Some people might put dirt on you when your intent is totally pure. My beloved daughter, true discipleship costs you everything. You know it. It isn’t easy to have me as a friend. At the time I walked the earth, some of the disciples I had, besides the Twelve, departed from me, because my words made them feel uncomfortable.

Child, I am not hiding this from you : sometimes your eyes will be filled with tears. They will slate you for being mine. I never hid from my disciples that they’d be persecuted for following me.

The truth is hard to swallow ; notice that many people want the bright sight of discipleship. They want to see miracles, healings and the beauty of my light, but when comes persecution, they flee from me.I do not condemn them, though. Not every human is able to understand and to carry the hardships of discipleship. Some individuals are just disciples of a moment, yet they swear they’ll stay forever. It is the Holy Spirit that will give you strength and root you deeply into me. Therefore one must ask for guidance from the Spirit and trust me at all times.

Child, you are chosen. Because you are chosen, you are being taught discipleship. I told you that I want to be your sole teacher. All this time spent in silence is your teaching in the desert. Your ears can only catch my words when your mind is completely silent. You’ll be called a fool many times by the most foolish ones. I am teaching you detachment in a way very few disciples will reach. It doesn’t go without pain. Child, it isn’t easy. Just trust me. You desire closeness between us ; it will be granted to you. The more you’ll reach detachment, the closer to me you’ll be. »

« My sweet Lord, it sometimes feels lonely to be a disciple of yours. I turned my back on many earthly passions in order to gain the wealth of your kingdom. Yeshua, keep guiding me. Your precious friendship is my highest good. You made me a disciple. Give me strength to bear what I have to carry for your love’s sake. The more I am advancing with you, the more I am aware of my incapacity to love. Teach me how to love, Lord. Help me, Holy Spirit, to act according to my Lord’s wisdom. Help me treat people with kindness. »

« You will be able to contemplate the very depths of my heart, this is a privilege that is denied to many. I let you travel through my mind and see through my eyes. Your Savior is love ; love is not what most people think it is. It goes together with acceptance, detachment and humbleness. It implies empathy. I’ve shown you that some people are into prison because of their own attitudes ; be merciful, because they are unaware of it. Look at everybody with my eyes. I’ll unveil details of their inner being to you. The hateful and the aggressive person are people in deep pain and anguish, self-stabbing people. They don’t know that most of their pains are self-inflicted. I’ve healed such people.

Child, you are often wondering why physical healing in my Name does not occur straight away. The reason is simple : I need to cure people’s hearts before I am healing their bodies.

Your own heart is still wounded and bleeding, child. Let me heal your heart completelty. Let me give you more strength, before I can heal your body. Do not despair about your physical healing, each step is necessary.

Yeshua, light of the world: birth of child

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given (Isaiah 9:6)

Although I am deeply convinced that our Messiah was born on Sukkoth (many biblical references, when read INTO CONTEXT, point at Sukkoth or Feast of the Tabernacles), I want to set apart this particular time of the year during which many Christians celebrate our Messiah’s birth to reflect on our Messiah’s venue on earth.

Nothing is more beautiful than to think that Abba loved each of us-individually to offer us His most precious gift. Yeshua became as fragile as a baby in order to show us godly love.

Yeshua, as He approached me, is the most gentle person I have ever met. Since this powerful encounter I had with Him, I started reading the New Testament with new eyes.

Yeshua revealed Himself to me as Yeshua haMaschiach, the Jewish Messiah.

I am so much conscious that all New Testament references really make sense  when interpreted rightly after Torah and Tanakh.

I have been accused to “hate Christians”, because I want to examine Yeshua’s sayings at the light of the Torah. No, I don’t hate anyone and there are wonderful Christians who love Yeshua with all their hearts, but I am not in agreement with the mistakes introduced into Christianity.

I want Truth for my Messiah is the Truth and I will walk in truth as long as I live.

What the Gospel teaches us about Zachariah and Elisabeth

“In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zachariah of the class of Abia…” Luke 1:5

The Gospel of Luke teaches us  that Zachariah was a priest of the class of Abia. In the next sentence we are being told that his wife, Elisabeth, was of the priestly line of Aaron. The high priests, like all levitical priests, belonged to the line of Aaron.

Does this matter? Yes, it certainly does matter.

Both, Zachariah and Elisabeth were strict Torah observants. They were obedient to the Commandments of Hashem. It also means that the one people are calling “John the Baptist” is not anyone.

The birth of their son Yokhanan was the fulfilling of a prophecy. In the Gospel of Matthew, Yokhanan is referred to as the “voice in the wilderness”, quoting the Book of Isaiah : “Prepare the way of the Lord; make His path straight.” (Isaiah 40:3)

Yeshua spoke of Yokhanan as Elyahou the prophet, according to the prophecy of Malachi:

“See I will send the prophet Elyahou before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. (Malachi 4:5. )

“And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elyahou, who was to come.” (Matthew 11:14)

One must also know that Jewish families who celebrate the Seder (the Passover meal) always leavean empty seat and an empty cup for prophet Elyahou whose coming must precede the coming of the Maschiach.

The birth of our Messiah on Sukkhot

John 1:14: The word  became flesh and dwelt among us.

A correct translation of “dwelt” from the Greek renders “tabernacled” with is a very clear reference to the feast of Tabernacles.

Also, one needs to do away with the folkloric representation of the creche to realize that Yosef, Miriam’s husband act was to install his son into a Sukkah.

Many Messianic Jews believe that the date of birth of our Messiah can actually be calculated, based on the accounts of the Gospel of Luke. It is clearly stated that our Messiah was conceived 6 months after His cousin Yokhanan. The website Jewish roots gives us more accurate precisions about an actual calculation of the date of birth of our Messiah, according to the Jewish calender and to Zachariah’s ministery at the Temple.

The following website also reveals us some interesting details about Yeshua’s birth, from a Jewish point of view.

Also meteorology in Israel at the time of Yeshua’s venue shows us that we were not in winter:

“And she gave birth to her firstborn and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no plae for them in the inn. And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.” (Luke 2:7-8)

Knowing that the weather conditions in winter in Israel are very different from this description, usually cold and rainy, shepherds would not have been able to watch over their flock as they were doing it in the story of Luke.

The most important we must remember about Yeshua’s coming in flesh is that our Savior accepted to take our human condition. He is our greatest gift, ever. Through Him we are delivered from our sins.

Blessed be His Name, for ever and ever. Amen.
